Domaine Michel Gaunoux Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens Bas 2019 is a powerful and refined red Burgundy from Côte de Beaune, crafted by the Gaunoux family. Situated on south‑east facing, iron‑rich marl–limestone soils, this Premier Cru parcel consistently yields structured, mineral‑driven Pinot Noir. The 2019 vintage offers a deep garnet hue and a complex nose bursting with cherries, cassis, violet, and a hint of licorice, woven through with dark chocolate, tea, and forest floor aromas.

On the palate, it presents a full-bodied, layered expression: bold dark fruit, savory earth tones, and firm, muscular tannins balanced by vibrant acidity. The mid-palate reveals mineral intensity and spice, while the finish is long, resonant, and elegantly structured. Crafted with traditional vinification and matured in old oak, the wine emphasizes terroir over wood. Early drinking can begin around 2025, with peak enjoyment expected between 2029 and 2039, and the potential to gracefully age beyond.
