AJ Vaona Bourgogne Rouge 2022

AJ Vaona Bourgogne Rouge 2022 is a charming regional Burgundy from the new AJ Vaona domaine, led by Justine Mongeard and Alexandre Carminati. Crafted from 100% Pinot Noir from selected older vines in Côte de Nuits and Beaune, this light to medium-bodied wine is hand-harvested, gently destemmed, and fermented with native yeasts. It matures for about a year in older oak barrels, receiving minimal intervention and no filtration.

In the glass, it shows a pale ruby hue. Aromatically, fresh red fruits like cherry, strawberry, and raspberry combine with nuance of cassis and forest-floor earth. The palate is elegant, offering silky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a red fruit-driven core, finishing cleanly with subtle spice and structure.

This wine is approachable now and ideal for drinking through 2027–2028. Serve at 14–16 °C. Pair with roast chicken, charcuterie boards, pork tenderloin, or light game meats.

• Aromas: Bright red fruits—fresh cherry, raspberry, strawberry—plus cassis, light sous-bois (forest floor), and a whisper of spice and subtle earthiness

• Palate: Light–medium-bodied, fresh acidity, fine silky tannins, primary red fruit core and a clean, structured finish 
• Winemaking:  Hand-harvested; gentle destemming; indigenous fermentation; aged ~10–12 months in used barrels; minimal oak influence; bottled unfined/unfiltered
• Drinking Window:  Best enjoyed 2024–2027; can extend gently to 2028 if cellared properly
